Flashback C11 – core terms’ study group

Anticipation … opinion… prove it to the rest… me first… thus far and no further… life’s beautiful… many thoughts… many dreams… all assembled on the quaint corridor of shining yellowstone outside the artistic portico of Khemka. The list has been handed out and the corridor resembles the markets of Cairo or for the post modernists, the remaining Dow at closing hours… frantic hands… screaming voices… pull-push feelings… palpable tension… just fun… a sudden hoopla… hands punching on the sleek mobile… a sudden phone call with a connection drop… the just-heard muttering of the forbidden swear word… a small group gathering up with happy feelings… a bigger group with a bigger sense of achievement… some guys and girls recede into more peaceful arena… they are done…

Groups are being formed for the core terms, during Orientation week.

Those 5 men and women who will pull each other up to the apex of desire… its quite windy up there, but we are cautious mountaineers… instant friends for life… never mind individual competition… we are different… we will show it to the world what it means to bond and live… the team has me after all… different faces… same thoughts… similar ambitions… we were diverse after all!!!

In that same corridor, in that same hour, under the same umbrella of thoughts 4 of us stood… finding one teammate after another… gradually the chain was being built, rung by rung… occasionally we watched a beautiful face pass by… we silently looked at each other… each of us trying to look academic and beyond it all… a minute later, we give up… their wishes are the same as mine… wished she joined your team… new age Helen who would unleash a thousand innovative ideas… of course each of us and not the other 4 will deservedly become her Paris… Achilles free world at ISB… no Troilus or Cressida here, by the way…

Till the dapper lawyer trooped in… armed with an impeccable accent in the queen’s language, a high pitched voice and a deliriously orange Lacoste polo neck… the name Yashasvi definitely was not a giveaway… Helen instantly vanished to the iconic runaway she was… all mortality removed… all invocations sublimating in thin air on a hot day in a hotter campus… it was a mental mirage maybe… the telecom engineer grimly looked askance at the face he didn’t expect to appear… the chartered accountant, a married man with new dreams looked at the far horizon… noncommittal at these concerns which now seemed so against the metaphysics of logic…. the production engineer, a man of machines with a degree from Allahabad, who had seen much of the world… grunted under his breath like the motion of rusted gear wheels…  and I blamed the disappointment to my destiny… a familiar blame game deal since the early days of youth…

Like it or not… all guys’ group C11 was formed… 6 months to go… the time starts a whole week later!!!! … the marketing case of Gillette Indonesia was a tiny speck in the distant future.

Adi Prabhat Jain (Production Engg.), Deepak Bhatia (CA), Vamsi Krishna Kothapalli (Telecom Engg) and Yashasvi Mohanram (Lawyer, CS) and myself… partners in crime and so much more…

Meanwhile the tenure ended with the core terms getting over… like to believe the journey just began…

But, the golden question is how it was … those six months… well our group’s “official logo”, designed by Vamsi, says it all…
